There are times in life when everything gets hectic. We live in a busy world, where things must get done. We have families, careers, friends who are all depending on us. Sometimes life, normal everyday life, can get heavy. There’s overtime, kid’s homework, football practice, ballet, and dinner still has to be made.
It’s enough to make even the sanest of people pull their hair out.
There are also those times where you are treading water, doing everything you can just to keep your head above water, while everything around you gets tossed and turned by the waves. So what can we do? In these moments it can be hard to remember, just breathe. For a moment, take the time to remember who your God is and what He can do. You are the child of the King. One crazy day, one crazy month, one crazy year is a testimony, not the end.
In the valley of dry bones, God tells Ezekiel to speak life. Ezekiel 37:4-5 “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.”
That’s crazy, right! Ezekiel was in the place of deadness. How could the dry bones live again? Only by speaking life to them in faith and then God would breathe life. When you are in the middle of the impossible, the crazy, the uncertain, speak life and breathe. Breathe in the breath that God breathed in to you the very first breath you took. We need to remember where all life comes from, take a deep breath, and speak life. In the crazy, hectic days, breathe and speak life to your mind so that you may accomplish all that you set out to do. In the uncertain days, breathe and speak life to peace in your heart, knowing that the Lord is where your help comes from. In the middle of impossibilities, breathe and speak life to a miracle.
There is a line in a worship song that says, “Lay back against Him and breathe, feel His heartbeat.” Every time I hear that song I close my eyes and take a deep breath, imagining myself leaning on Christ. It is a time I can feel the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders because, in that moment, I am trusting God completely and wholly with every single one of my burdens. If only we could do this all the time. If we would just breathe and be still, knowing He is God how much less stress would we have?
Job 33:4 “The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.”
God has given you life and He cares about that life He has given you.
He cares about the everyday struggles, burdens, and stress you are under. He is a good father that takes the time to comfort and relieve you from all of the weight upon your shoulders. It is time we remember to just breathe and let God be God. We must give Him the time to operate in our situations by taking time to seek Him, even in the midst of our hectic schedules.
The more we take the time to seek Him, the more we find Him. Dive in to your Word on a regular basis. Stay prayed up, keeping in constant communication with God. Praise Him, thank Him, and worship Him. The time you give to God is not wasted time. In fact, time given to God seems to calm the chaos of every day.
I pray as you read this you remember to just breathe, be still and know that He is God.
