The tables were decorated brightly, the coffee was dark and hot. The music was playing, the women were chatting. The sun was shining in through the windows, illuminating the author’s tables and the women inside.
From the get-go, God had great things planned for this event. The obstacles that were put in the way of this event were not able to stand in the way. Because God made a way, bringing a speaker to the event at the last minute and healing sickness. God used every speaker, child, and musician that walked through that door, and spoke truth through every word spoken, every hug given.
What I’ll remember from this event are the words spoken from seven other incredible, amazing, strong, bold women. Ones who have stepped out into the fire so that they can be refined. Ones who have loved without abandon, expecting nothing in return.
I’ll remember that I’m a designer original. I’ve been made by a God who has refinished my life so that it shines for Him.
I’ll remember that through Him, we can overcome every obstacle in our way, no matter how difficult. How God can use even the most harrowing experiences to prepare us for the ministry He has called us to.
I’ll remember that God can fulfill a 15-year dream and open doors that we never expected.
I’ll remember that inner beauty is what the King of Kings sees, and that God can use the worst experiences of our lives to encourage people, even giving one of our speakers a national platform to make a difference in so many lives.
I’ll remember that preaching where your fear is is probably where the greatest ministry is. And that we’re all a hot mess – but God loves us anyway.
I’ll remember that the game of dodgeball is pretty much the ‘Hunger Games.’ That fear leaves you vulnerable and alone, but that God has given us power, love, and a sound mind as our tools to combat it.
I’ll remember that we have been called to freedom, and that we need a Savior EVERY DAY of our lives, not just the day He calls us to Him.
And I’ll remember that when God calls you out of your comfort zone, out of your boat to encourage others, He might just encourage you in the process.
Fear not. You’re not alone in this journey. What you’re struggling with, someone else is struggling with too. What you’re being taught, others need to hear. You’re one of a kind, a designer original that God loves so much that He stretched out His arms and died. Step out boldly in faith, following Him where He calls you. Love without abandon. And fear not.
